Brain masala Eid special recipe
Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I hope you are all well and having a wonderful time. Eid Mubarak to all of you! Today, I'm going to share a special Eid recipe: Brain Masala. This dish is flavorful, aromatic, and perfect for celebrating the festive occasion. So, let's get cooking together!
Ingredients:
- 1 beef brain
- 2 chopped tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon red chili powder
- 1 tablespoon dhania (coriander) powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- A pinch of turmeric powder
- A bunch of coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- Oil for cooking
Method:
Step 1: Preparing the Brain
First, we need to prepare the beef brain. Start by placing the brain in a pot of water. Bring the water to a boil and let it cook for about 20 minutes. Boiling helps to make the brain tender and also makes it easier to clean.
Step 2: Cleaning the Brain
Once the brain has been boiled, remove it from the water and let it cool slightly. Carefully remove any veins or membranes from the top. This step ensures that the brain is clean and ready for cooking.
Step 3: Preparing the Masala
Next, take a pan and add a generous amount of oil. Heat the oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds. Fry the cumin seeds until they begin to sizzle and release their aroma. This should take about a minute.
Step 4: Adding Tomatoes and Spices
Now, add the chopped tomatoes to the pan. Stir them well and let them cook down until they are soft and mushy. This usually takes around 5-7 minutes.
Once the tomatoes are cooked, add the ginger garlic paste. Stir it in and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until the raw smell of the paste disappears.
Step 5: Incorporating the Spices
Now it's time to add the spices. Add the red chili powder, dhania powder, salt, kasoori methi, and a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix everything well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed. Cook this mixture for another 5 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse the tomatoes and create a rich masala base.
Step 6: Adding the Brain
After the masala is well-cooked and fragrant, it's time to add the boiled brain. Carefully place the brain into the pan and gently mix it with the masala. Be gentle to avoid breaking the brain too much.
Step 7: Cooking the Brain Masala
Lower the flame to a simmer and let the brain cook with the masala for about 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully. Stir occasionally, but be gentle to maintain the texture of the brain.
Step 8: Garnishing and Serving
Once the brain masala is cooked to perfection, turn off the heat. Garnish the dish with freshly chopped coriander leaves for a burst of color and freshness.
Serving Suggestions:
Brain masala is best enjoyed with hot tandoori roti or naan. The soft and spicy masala pairs wonderfully with the chewy and slightly charred bread. A cool drink on the side will complement the spiciness of the dish perfectly.
Tips for the Perfect Brain Masala:
- Boiling the Brain: Ensure that the brain is boiled thoroughly but not overcooked. It should be tender enough to handle easily but not falling apart.
- Cleaning: Removing the veins and membranes is crucial for a clean and pleasant texture.
- Spice Balance: Adjust the level of red chili powder according to your heat preference. You can also add a bit of green chili for extra heat.
- Cooking Time: Allow the brain to simmer in the masala for at least 10 minutes to absorb all the flavors.
Final Thoughts:
Brain masala is a rich and indulgent dish that’s perfect for special occasions like Eid. It’s packed with flavor and has a unique texture that’s sure to impress your family and guests. The combination of aromatic spices, tender brain, and fresh coriander creates a dish that’s both comforting and celebratory.
I hope you enjoy making and eating this special dish as much as I do. Eid Mubarak once again, and happy cooking!
